BGE and Potomac-Edison Rebates

In Maryland, energy-efficient HVAC systems can qualify for substantial rebates through the BGE Smart Savers Program and Potomac Edison Empower Maryland program. Eligible air conditioners and heat pumps with specific SEER, EER, and HSPF ratings can yield rebates ranging from $300 to $1,500. Energy Efficient Rebates for Air Conditioners

The following air conditioners are eligible for HVAC rebates through both programs:

  • Electric central ACs with at least 16 SEER and 13 EER are eligible for a $300 rebate
  • Electric central ACs with at least 18 SEER and 13 EER are eligible for a $500 rebate
 

HVAC Rebates for Energy Efficient Heat Pumps

The following heat pumps are eligible for energy efficient rebates through the both HVAC Efficiency Programs:

  • Electric air source heat pumps with at least 16 SEER, 13 EER, and 9 HSPF are eligible for a $400 rebate
  • Electric air source heat pumps with at least 18 SEER, 13 EER, and 9.5 HSPF are eligible for a $650 rebate
  • Geothermal heat pumps (closed loops) with at least 17.1 EER and 3.6 COP are eligible for a $1,500 rebate
